Treated Pine Maintenance
TO REDUCE AGEING, SPLITTING AND TWISTING
Treated Pine is like any other timber product and it must be maintained.
Whilst your timber is treated against both rot and insect attack - it is not treated
against twisting, ageing, splitting or swelling.
The various chemicals used in Treated Pine, combined with the fast
growing nature of the pine species mean that it that is easily affected by
temperature, moisture and humidity changes.
There is no guaranteed method to eliminate the nature of Treated Pine to
disfigure. However the use of a quality Treated Pine oil, Paint or other Water
and UV repellent product will do a great deal to reduce the problem.
The best way to protect your treated timber against the harsh Australian
elements and to ensure your hard work looks great for years to come is to nail,
screw or fix your treated pine correctly. The use of Noggins, fascia boards,
hanger brackets, gang nails and twist nails all play an important role in the
fixture of treated pine timbers.
We do not recommend the use of Self Drilling metal screws. Experience
has revealed that the poor quality of such screws are not effective in fixing
Treated Pine to metal or steel framework.
